Ailing homeopathy college in Bhubaneswar
Students of government-run Biju
Patnaik Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital in the town of
Berhampur are forced to go to the neighbouring City Hospital for their
one-year internship and other practical classes as the college has no
in-patient department (IPD).
The
43-year-old college has only out-patient department (OPD). On an
average around 200 patients visit the OPD, where two medical officers
and college teachers treat the patients
The
IPD has not been functioning due to staff crunch though the government
had provided costly equipment worth Rs 20 lakh to the college around
five years ago and a 25-bed indoor hall was constructed three years ago.
The equipment, including ultrasound, X-Ray, urinalysis, blood analyzers
and malaria test machines, are lying dumped in the hospital.

Acute Diarrhea
The most common causes of acute diarrhea are infectious agents. Acute diarrhea also may be caused by ingested drugs or toxins, the administration of chemotherapy, resumption of enteral feeding following a prolonged fast, fecal impaction (overflow diarrhea), or particular situations, such as marathon running. Additionally, acute diarrhea may represent the onset of a chronic diarrheal illness.Contributing factors include inadequate sewage disposal and water supplies, lack of refrigeration, overcrowding and lack of personal hygiene, poverty, lack of access to health care, and lack of education.
Patients with acute infectious diarrhea typically present with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, and diarrhea, which may be watery, malabsorptive, or bloody, depending on the specific pathogen.Abdominal pain is mild, diffuse, and crampy and results from the high volumes of secreted fluid that stimulate peristalsis and cause watery diarrhea.

Until recently it was believed that children outgrew ADHD in adolescence. This is because hyperactivity often diminishes during the teen years. However, we now know that many symptoms continue into adulthood. If the disorder goes undiagnosed or untreated, adults with the disorder may experience trouble at work and in relationships, as well as emotional difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
Mafia against AYUSH systems
Shivajinagar MLA Roshan Baig
alleged on Thursday that super speciality corporate hospitals, along
with pharmaceutical companies in the city, were running a mafia by not
allowing other systems of medicines such as Ayurveda and Homoeopathy to
flourish.
He was speaking at a ceremony organised by the Ayush department, where 28 renowned Ayush doctors were felicitated.
“The
mafia is lobbying to suppress the Ayush forms of treatment,” Baig said.
Ayush is the acronym for Ayurveda, Yoga/Naturopathy, Unani, Sidda and
Homoeopathy systems of medicine.
Limbavali
said there were treatments for dengue and chikungunya in Ayush forms of
medicines and the government was bound to promote indigenous forms of
medicines in the State.
