An AYUSH Information Centre, only the second in the world, after
Malaysia, has been set up at the Indian High Commission, 6 Victoria
Avenue, Port-of-Spain. It was formally inaugurated by Minister of Local
Government and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Surujrattan
Rambachan and the High Commissioner of India, Malay Mishra, on July 25.
The objective of the centre is to promote and spread the awareness of
Ayurveda, along with other traditional medicine systems, including Yoga,
Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (for which the acronym AYUSH stands).
In a press release, the Indian High Commission said the centre would also complement the Ayurveda Chair to be set up in the University of the West Indies by September, for which a memorandum of understanding has been signed last January between India and T&T. source:http://www.guardian.co.tt/news/2012-07-30/tt-gets-world’s-second-ayush-centre
