Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh
Badal on Friday asked the medical fraternity to popularise
Ayush-Ayurved, Yoga, Unani, Sidha, Naturopathy and Homeopathy as an
alternative system of medicine to the much-publicised Allopathic system.
“Ayush
system especially Ayurveda has comparatively lesser side effects than
allopathy and is also cost effective,” said Badal while addressing a
public gathering at the launch of four-day Arogya Mela, jointly
organised by the Centre and State Ayush department in collaboration of
the FICCI.
Badal
emphasized the need to intensify efforts for undertaking research in the
Ayurveda so that complicated diseases like Cancer, Hepatitis and
Cardiac ailments could also be effectively cured.
Appreciating
efforts of State Ayush Department to hold this medical
camp-cum-exhibition, Badal asked the doctors to ensure proper follow up
in the cases of patients who were diagnosed with serious ailments.
“State
government has already held two mega medial camps at village Badal in
Muktsar district and Mansa where 19,000 and 27,000 patients were
medically checked up and given suitable treatment besides medicines free
of cost,” he said assuring Health and Family Welfare Minister Madam
Mohan Mittal that the State Government would leave no stone unturned to
promote Ayush system of medicine in the State.
